Universal Remote Control Takes Aim at Crestron/AMX/Extron

Universal Remote Control (URC), a controller manufacturer with a long history in the residential installation, subscription broadcast, retail and OEM sectors, will officially enter the commercial marketplace with some unique new products at InfoComm 09 in Orlando later this month.  In making the announcement, URC told rAVe that they saw the commercial AV market as a giant opportunity because they see that, “Many of our residential dealers have been moving into the commercial space in recent years, and as a result we have learned a lot about commercial installation applications, their unique requirements and their problem spots.”

They see the ProAV market as both an opportunity for the HomeAV dealer to move into quickly as well as an opportunity for them to develop higher-end systems for meeting rooms.

This will be interesting to watch…

URC refused to tell rAVe anything about the specific strategy, but indicated that many of their current remotes could be flipped easily into ProAV controllers – specifically pointing to the MX6000.
