Frequently Asked Questions

What is Forstag and who manufactures it?

Forstag is a brand of retail anti-theft and product display solutions developed by Fors France, a French manufacturer specialising in commercial retail security hardware. The Forstag range includes recoilers (spring-loaded retractable tethers), fixed and retractable security cables, and display mounting systems designed to protect high-value merchandise on open retail shelves and demo displays.

Who distributes Forstag products in New Zealand?

Leading Solutions, based in Auckland, is the authorised distributor of Forstag products in New Zealand. This means NZ retailers can source Forstag hardware with local warranty support, fast domestic dispatch (typically within one business day), and advice from the Leading Solutions team via phone (09-979-5479) or email (sales@leadingsolutions.co.nz).

What types of products does Forstag protect?

Forstag products are primarily used to secure electronics on open retail display, including smartphones, tablets, cameras, headphones, handheld gaming devices, and small domestic appliances. The retractable tether design allows shoppers to pick up and test products while preventing them from being carried away. Forstag solutions are also used for accessories, tools, and any merchandise displayed on open shelving where theft is a concern.

How does a Forstag recoiler work?

A Forstag recoiler is a spring-loaded security tether device. One end is anchored to the retail fixture or counter using a peg, adhesive base, or screw mount; the other end attaches to the product via a connector or wrap. The internal spring automatically retracts the cable when the product is set down, keeping the display tidy. If the product is pulled beyond the maximum extension with force, an alarm is triggered on alarming models.

Are Forstag products compatible with existing retail fixtures and EAS systems?

Forstag security hardware is designed for standalone mechanical operation and does not require a specific EAS system or gate frequency. Products can be used independently or alongside AM or RF EAS tag programmes. Forstag mounting bases are compatible with standard slatwall, pegboard, and flat countertop surfaces, making integration straightforward for most NZ retail setups.

Can retailers purchase Forstag products in bulk at wholesale pricing?

Yes. Leading Solutions offers bulk and trade pricing for registered NZ partner accounts including retail chains, department stores, and loss prevention consultants. Apply via the wholesale partner programme at leadingsolutions.co.nz/pages/become-a-partner. Orders typically dispatch within one business day from our Auckland warehouse, with national delivery available.
