Frequently Asked Questions

What are generic EAS products and how do they compare to branded alternatives?

Generic EAS (electronic article surveillance) products are retail security tags, labels, and accessories manufactured by quality-tested suppliers to the same functional standards as major brands such as Checkpoint and Sensormatic, but without the brand premium. Leading Solutions' generic range delivers reliable detection and deactivation performance suitable for most New Zealand retail environments at a more accessible price point.

Are generic EAS tags compatible with AM and RF detection systems?

Yes. Leading Solutions' generic EAS products are available in both AM 58 kHz (Acousto-Magnetic) format, compatible with Sensormatic-style gates, and RF 8.2 MHz (Radio Frequency) format, compatible with Checkpoint-style systems. It is important to confirm which frequency your EAS gates operate on before ordering tags or labels to ensure correct compatibility.

What types of generic retail security products does Leading Solutions stock?

Leading Solutions stocks generic hard tags, soft labels, lanyard tags, security pins, and detachers. Hard tags are reusable and suitable for apparel and high-value merchandise. Soft labels are adhesive and suited for packaged goods. Lanyard tags secure irregular-shaped items. Detachers and pins complete the system for staff use at point of sale.

Are generic EAS tags reusable?

Hard tags in the generic range are reusable - once removed with a detacher at point of sale, they can be retagged onto new stock. Soft labels are single-use adhesive tags that are deactivated at POS and are not intended for reuse. Selecting the right tag type depends on your merchandise category and operational workflow.

Can I use generic detachers with my existing Checkpoint or Sensormatic tags?

In most cases, yes. Generic magnetic detachers are compatible with standard Checkpoint (RF) and Sensormatic (AM) hard tags that use a standard pin mechanism. However, specialist lock types such as ink tags and high-security pins may require brand-specific detachers. Contact Leading Solutions if you need help confirming detacher compatibility for your specific tag type.

Does Leading Solutions offer trade or bulk pricing on generic EAS products?

Yes. Volume pricing is available for retailers, loss prevention teams, and commercial buyers. Generic EAS consumables such as soft labels and security pins are well-suited to bulk purchasing to reduce per-unit cost.
