A media processor is a device that handles the capture, encoding, streaming, or distribution of video and audio signals in professional AV environments. Depending on the model, it can be used for live streaming, recording meetings and lectures, video switching, or distributing content across multiple screens via an IP network.

What is the difference between a capture device and a streaming encoder?

A capture device connects to your computer via USB and records or passes through video from an external source — such as a camera, HDMI output, or SDI feed — into software like OBS, Zoom, or vMix. A streaming encoder is a standalone device that encodes and transmits video directly to streaming platforms like YouTube, Facebook Live, or a custom server, without needing a computer to run the stream.

What is NDI and do your media processors support it?

NDI (Network Device Interface) is a standard that allows video to be transmitted over a local IP network with low latency, eliminating the need for long cable runs.
