Frequently Asked Questions

What are retail security tethers and how do they work?

Retail security tethers are cable or cord devices that physically attach a product to a display fixture such as a shelf, table, or stand. One end secures to the display via adhesive or a loop anchor, while the other attaches to the product, preventing it from being removed without authorisation. They allow customers to handle items freely while deterring theft in retail environments.

What types of tethers does Leading Solutions stock?

Leading Solutions stocks recoiling tethers (which retract automatically when the product is returned) and fixed-length tethers. Both types are available with adhesive mounting pads or loop-end attachments to suit different product shapes and display setups, including shelving, pegboards, and countertops.

What products are tethers suitable for securing?

Tethers are suitable for a wide range of retail display items including power tools (drills, sanders), handbags, vacuum cleaners, small electronics, headphones, sporting goods, and accessories. They are particularly useful for higher-value items that need to be accessible for customer interaction but protected from walkout theft.

Are security tethers reusable?

Yes, most security tethers from Leading Solutions are reusable and designed for long-term use in commercial retail environments. They can be repositioned between product changes or store resets. Adhesive mounting options use commercial-strength adhesives suitable for smooth shelf or fixture surfaces.

Do tethers work alongside EAS (electronic article surveillance) systems?

Yes, tethers are commonly used alongside AM 58 kHz or RF 8.2 MHz EAS systems for dual-layer protection. The tether physically prevents removal while EAS tags trigger an alarm if a product passes through the detection gate. This combination is widely used in electronics and high-value merchandise departments in New Zealand retail.

Can I purchase tethers in bulk for a multi-store rollout?

Yes, Leading Solutions offers trade and wholesale pricing for retailers purchasing tethers in bulk or across multiple store locations. Contact the team at 09-979-5479 or apply for a wholesale partner account to access volume pricing and dedicated account support.
